[Reupload] Happy New Year Alumni!

The Year in Review

The Alumni Relations Cabinet is very excited to begin this new decade with you! Since our initial email NEIVSA has held their annual Charity Ball, previously known as the Masquerade Ball, where we were able to raise over $2,000 for the Vietnamese-American Dreams Scholarship. In addition to that, we had two successful alumni get-togethers such as Plant Night, where we were able to see some old faces, and even got a few members of the community together to see Susan Lieu’s stage play, “140 lbs”.

We were also able to end the year with a finished definition of an NEIVSA Alumni!

  • To qualify as an NEIVSA alumni, you must be an officially recognized member that has graduated from a 4-year university/young professional with relevant experience, and either:

    • Served a minimum of ONE term as Board of Directors, Executive Board, Cabinet, NELC staff, VES staff, or Tet in Boston Committee Director, or staff of a major NEIVSA event

    • Served on the Executive Board of an ICC member school in good-standing at time of involvement

For more information, please ask myself or the cabinet at alumni.realtions@newenglandivsa.org. If you missed some of our events last year, don’t worry as we have many upcoming events to connect:

Tet in Boston 2020 Festival

If you live in the Greater Boston area, you might be familiar with Tet in Boston, an annual Vietnamese Lunar New Year Festival organized by the Vietnamese American Community of Massachusetts as well as NEIVSA!

This year the Night Concert will be held on Saturday, February 1st, 2020 at IBEW Freeport Hall, while the Day Festival will be held on Sunday, February 16th, 2020 at Boston College High School!

We would love to see alumni serve as volunteers, vendors, or even help with selling raffle tickets! Come celebrate with us this year at Tet in Boston - hope we can kick off the new year together and introduce you to the rest of the Alumni Relations team! Check out this handy linktree!

The Sixth Annual Vietnamese Empowerment Summit

This year our Sixth Annual Vietnamese Empowerment Summit will be held on March 27th-29th, 2020 in Danvers, MA. We are excited to offer Alumni a few programming and networking activities this year as well as volunteer opportunities to help out the next generation of Vietnamese-Americans/AAPI community grow.

  • If you are interested in helping to review resumes/cover letters, or offer career advice, please reply to us via email as we are looking for alumni to help conference attendees in their professional development!

  • If you are interested in supporting us, we are also looking for sponsorship either monetary or in-kind, as well as vendor booths for our Resource Fair. The VES-6 Sponsorship/Vendor packet can be found here.

If you are interested in helping out in other ways, feel free to email us or the conference executives at summit.executives@newenglandivsa.org!

The Goal of Alumni Relations

Our goal is to be the arc between students and alumni to create a stronger culture of membership by promoting opportunities for alumni to network with each other and our current members. We hope you’ll give back and meet fellow alumni at our upcoming events!

  • If you wish to update your information (especially if you are a current undergraduate), opt out of future communications, or help us refine our Alumni Database by directing us to other NEIVSA alumni, please do so through this form or through a reply to this email. Happy new year and we look forward to another decade of community building!
